The Agatha Christie Crime Collection, issued by Hamlyn Publishing Group in the late 1960s and early 1970s, is a definitive collected edition of Christie's crime fiction, including her short stories, up to the publication of Nemesis in 1972. Each volume contains three of her detective fiction novels. Issued by Hamlyn by monthly subscription only and not sold through bookshops. The set was nicely produced, with each volume featuring golden dagger over Christie's initials on the front panel, coloured endpapers, sprayed edges and encased in period dust jackets, featuring an element of one of the three mysteries. Some of those in the series are now hard to find especially, it is said, some of the later issues, as subscriptions to the series fell off towards the end. We have several volumes from this series in stock and can offer generous discounts to those purchasing more than one volume at a time - please inquire.

Add to basketCloth. Condition: Good. None (illustrator). A scarce early edition of Christie's festive thriller, featuring her much loved Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. The third impression. First published in December 1938. Scarce in any early edition. A gripping Hercule Poirot novel by Agatha Christie which is set across the entire festive period. This novel follows the events of Simeon Lee's family as they gather for Christmas. Lee, an elderly multi-millionaire, is not on good terms with his family and therefore they find the gathering to be suspicious from the outset. Simeon is later found murdered in his room, and Poirot is recruited to solve the mystery. This is the first of several Christmas themed works written by Christie. A short story collection 'The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding' was published much later in 1960. A smart early edition of this increasingly scarce classic Christie novel. In the original publisher's orange cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with rubbing to the extremities, resulting in some slight loss to the cloth. Marks to the boards. Front hinge slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with scattered spotting, slightly heavier to the first and last few pages and the fore edge. Tape repair to front free endpaper and half title. Good. book.

Add to basketCondition: Acceptable. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text. An acceptable condition book. Third impression. No dust jacket. The spine is heavily worn and splitting around the edges, with fading to the red. The boards are shelf worn and have a notable ringed mark to the front board and some speckling to both. A crack in the hinge beside the front board that exposes the netting. The binding is slacker in places but secure overall. An annotation to the front free endpaper and pencil annotations to the 'Same Author' page, and a few pencil lines and circling to th text. Foxing throughout. The page edges are mildly thumbed. The saving grace of this early impression is that the main body of text is clean and the pages quite sturdy, and the text remains unfaded throughout. Fine for use as a reading and reference copy with the potential of repairing and refreshing. A scarce copy. More photographs and information available on request.
